8 UT (University of Texas) Students will be working on this project for North Korean Refugees... I am one of them!
-Our housing will be provided by a church working with the refugees we will be interviewing.
-Funding would be for some other basic living expenses and the plane ticket
-the video posted on this page is from our first round of interviews that documents questions asked by North Korean refugees to us
At the DMZ (demilitarized zone) in South Korea where God really gave me a heart for NK refugees...
I will be leaving for South Korea on May 19th to make a documentary about North Korean refugees. This project was put together by Grace Nam (an international grad student at UT who's also a Rotary Scholar).
Where I will be in South Korea...
Grace has worked with North Korean refugees in South Korea for several years and has a heart for their stories. A good friend of hers (Ji Hyeon-a, who is president of the North Korea university students organization) recently wrote a book about her 4 ESCAPES FROM NORTH KOREA. The book is currently being translated English.
Ji Hyeon-a would like to share her story in a documentar form and has also asked some of her fellow North Korean refugee friends to assist. 8 students from UT are going to North Korea to help film and be part of a cultural exchange project that focuses on documenting these refugee stories.
Filming equipment is being lent free of charge by a local film university.

PLEASE ASK ME QUESTIONS about my heart. I consider this both a humanitarian and ministry opportunity on a personal level. (to clarify this is NOT a Christian project, but both myself and Grace are Christian so this is close to our hearts and inspires us to pray for/participate in this trip)
