Julian's Plight

Donation protected
Julian and his mother were recently the victims in a moto/car accident here in Cuenca, Ecuador where both were seriously injured. While his mother continues to recover from a fractured leg and a fractured pelvis, Julian has not been so lucky.

After going through surgery to fix his leg which was fractured in the accident, Julian began rehab to strengthen the muscles and improve his walking. During rehab, he fell and refractured the same leg. The trauma surgeon informed us that another surgery is needed to fix the damage and that any delay in surgery, longer than a week, will greatly impact his ability to heal properly. This means that without the financial support needed to provide him with another surgery (which him and his family simply cannot afford), he is in danger of becoming permanently disabled. A result that will not only effect him but also his wife and young daughter. With one accident, three generations will be impacted as his ability to work will be hampered throughout the rest of his life.

Dr. Santiago Romo, a highly regarded traumatologist, has offered to perform the surgery at a greatly discounted cost, but it is still expensive. We need to raise $7,000 this week in order to cover the anesthesiologist, materials, surgical suite, and post-op therapy.

This translates to 70 of you good people donating $100, or 35 of you donating $200, or 14 of you donating $500. Whatever you can donate will be greatly appreciated. We have raised $600 thus far, so it is doable.

Thank you,
