Juanita: Rising from the Ashes
June 17th, 2021, Juanita Cardenas woke up to 2 missed calls from “spam risk”. The voicemail however, was the fire department stating that her home was on fire.
I woke up to a text; “call me when you wake up, emergency”. Juanita told me and all I could say was “what?”. That’s something you only hear in movies. Nahhh that’s not a thing. This must be a dream.
It took 3 hours to extinguish the fire that took 30 minutes to destroy 30+ years. But, it could always be worse. Thank God that everybody is safe and nobody was hurt from the fire.
Juanita and her 4 kiddos now have nowhere to call home. They have no clothes to wear. They have no beds to sleep on. Those kids now have no toys to play with. What a humbling thought.
Now there is a ton of rebuilding to do and Juanita is more motivated than ever! So here we go, as a village, to take care of one of our own. The funds raised are going to find Juanita and her family a safe space to call home.
