Juan Gonzalez Legacy Fund
Don protégé
By now, most of you have learned about the untimely passing of Juan Jose Gonzalez, affectionately known by many as Mr. Juan, at the far too young age of 55.
Juan was a great husband and father, and was beloved by all that knew him. Nick and I have known Mr. Juan and his family for nearly 10 years. We met him shortly after we purchased our home at Highland Park when Nick chased Juan's truck down Linden Avenue to ask him if he could help us with our disaster of a yard. With his infectious grin and a twinkle in his eye he said "Yes. Your yard is very bad".
My grandmother was a talented gardener and I would always ask her for advice (what flower is this? Can this shrub survive here? Is that a weed?!) but after her passing, Mr. Juan quickly became the one that I would turn to for advice. And not just gardening advice but advice in life - he was a wise old soul. Juan was a kind, generous and intelligent man - it always made our day to see him arrive. Anyone who had the good fortune of having Mr. Juan in their lives is better for it. Needless to say, we were crushed to learn of his untimely death and our hearts hurt for his family.
Juan is survived by his loving family, including his wife and 3 children, all of whom worked with him in the family business. His daughter Noemi is taking her place at the helm of their business, soon to be renamed Gonzalez Legacy Landscaping. We are raising money for the family - they are incurring legal and accounting costs just to be able to continue operating the family business (Juan did not yet have a beneficiary assigned). They would greatly benefit from funds raised to help them get through this difficult time as a family and to keep their family business moving forward.
We are looking to raise as much money as possible in the next week to be able to present to the family asap. It is moments like these that we as a community need to pick each other up, and help someone who made our lives more beautiful by both his presence and his life's work. Please feel free to share this post with those that you know worked with Juan, on your social media pages, etc.
We will appreciate anything you can give - no donation is too small. Thank you very much in advance for your kindness and generosity.
With Love and Gratitude,
Kim (and Nick) Saccaro
