Marines Memorial Day Reunion 2015

Donation protected
In the spring of 2010, 120 Marines of India Battery deployed to a volatile valley in Afghanistan. Their mission was simple, but dangerous- to defend the key terrain of the Kajaki Hydroelectric Dam and expand the security perimeter in surrounding villages against the well-entrenched Taliban, which was intent on seizing control of the area by any means necessary. During the seven months these brave Marines were in Afghanistan, five of their brothers were Killed In Action and over 30 men were wounded. Upon their return to the United States, the Battery quickly dispersed with many members leaving active duty and returning to their homes all over the country and some redeploying to Afghanistan.

Imagine living shoulder to shoulder with a group of men who have come to mean as much to you as your own family. Imagine the great danger you face with these brothers 24 hours a day, seven days a week for seven months. Imagine seeing five of your brothers give their lives defending yours. And 30 brothers being critically wounded. Now imagine it all coming to an end the minute you return to the US and never seeing some of your brothers again.

Over Memorial Day 2015, more than 90 Marines from India Battery will spend the weekend at an event designed to help them reconnect and recover together as they remember their sacrifice for OUR country. This is the first USMC reunion of it's kind. Through the generosity of grateful Americans, patriots like you, we have secured airfare and transportation for those Marines who cannot afford this on their own, a space to hold the reunion, food and fun such as a flag football game with some current and former NFL players, a movie screening and pig roast.  We have also secured group counselors and representatives from veteran support organizations to assist these brave men and introduce them to resources that are available to them and their families. The Marines will partner with the family of a local Marine who was Killed In Action with a community service project and Gold Star Families will participate in a memorial service for India Battery's fallen brothers.

Our Guest of honor is Major General Joseph L. Osterman. He will be addressing the troops and hopefully spending the night amongst the battalion.

You can help make all of this possible. Please show your appreciation to these brave Americans by contributing something towards this special reunion. No amount is too small and 100% of your donation will go to this reunion.

Thank you for your contribution.
