Joni's recovery fund...

My sister, Joni, is a 41 year old mother of 2 lively, preschool-aged girls. While we were all ringing in the New Year, she was waiting on the results of a breast biopsy. On January 2nd, when the doctor's offices opened, she learned that she has breast cancer.
Talk about a rough start to 2015!
Those who know her well, know that she is the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back to help you. She is a health care worker who spends countless hours helping others to heal. It is in her nature to take care of others, but now she is the one who needs a little help in order to heal.
Soon she will undergo the first of two major surgeries. There is a significant recovery period for each surgery, and given the physical demands of her job, she will be out of work for upwards of 8 weeks. Though she has not taken a full week of vacation in years, she unfortunately, has less than 6 hours of accumulated paid time off, mostly due to her own doctor's appointments, caring for sick children, and unexpected daycare closings. Because of this, there will be at least a 2 week period - and possibly longer - where she will not receive a paycheck, as she waits for her short term disability benefits to take effect. Unfortunately, the bills will continue to accumulate despite her illness, and despite missed paychecks.
We are hoping to help her raise money to minimize the stresses that she is already feeling as a result of this diagnosis. Please consider pitching in. Every little bit will make a difference to her family. (Seriously, you haven't seen this lady stretch a dollar at the grocery store!)
Thank you!
