Jimmy needs our help

On Sunday 11th October, our mate Jimmy Gruitt had a terrible fall from a second storey balcony. Thankfully, someone found him and he was raced to Proserpine Hospital where, after realising his injuries, he was promptly flown to Townsville Hospital. He was placed in an induced coma after suffering a fractured skull, fractured eye sockets, a ruptured spleen, broken ribs, punctured lungs, both wrists dislocated and or broken and several broken and dislocated fingers.

Jimmy has since had multiple surgeries to remove his spleen and repair his badly fractured fingers and one wrist and also to place drains in to clear the fluid from his lungs. Doctors are still determining when to operate on his second wrist to repair the damage done.

On Wednesday, Jimmy had one drain removedfrom his lung and doctors were discussing removing the second drain from his other lung.  Discussions were also being had to bring him outof the coma to remove his breathing tubes andalso determine the extent of damage done to his brain.

Jimmy has a long road to recovery with a lot oftherapy. He will not be able to return to work for some time. Jimmy is a casual contractor andsadly will have no income the entire time he is off work. His partner Helene (Lenny) is a casual worker too and will need to take time off work to care for him.  They need to keep the roof over their head and the bills paid while he recovers.

So some of their mates are banding together to help but they need your assistance. Jimmy is a fantastic bloke with a gigantic heart who needs a bit of a helping hand at this time.
