Jrod & Family's Home

Donation protected
Last week, a neighbor's frantic call alerted Jrod Smith who was at work at the Thrift Store at the time, that his home was burning. Located half an hour up Los Gatos Canyon, he knew the home was in trouble. By the time firefighters arrived, there was nothing they could do. The flames were so intense that even the wood burning stove melted into nothing. Everything Jrod owned went up. Most of the family's pets and animals survived, but that was all. Fortunately, no one was home. As a renter, Jrod had no insurance. He has 16 days' worth of a place to stay. After that, he's on his own. Today he was buying a kitty litter box, hoping to train his formerly outdoor cats how to manage inside. It's a small thing. There is no "normal" for them right now.

A goal of $5,000 is a drop in the bucket. We're talking everything this family owned. Except the vehicle. And the clothes they were wearing. Let's show Jrod and his family that we stand behind him, beside him, and will put what we can aside for him.

Jrod's family is one of the original homesteaders up Los Gatos canyon. The home he was renting belonged to Happy Gaston, the school bus driver, and was built a century or so ago.
