We started from the bottom.  Now we’re HERE!

In April 2014, my wife and I stepped out on faith and opened Jrama's Barbecue Pit in the parking lot of the American Legion, Post #80 on Main Street in Binghamton, NY.  We opened as a street vendor in an effort to ascertain how the community would respond to our food, before investing in brick and mortar.  We specialize in southern “soulfood” and barbecue with a Caribbean flare.  In less than two months, we were preparing more than 100 dinners from our outdoor stand each day we opened.  After completing our market analysis that summer, we closed the stand for the winter months with a clear understanding that we needed to secure a permanent location for a full service restaurant.  So we gathered every penny we had and started to search for a restaurant.  Looking back, I must have been crazy, starting a restaurant with nothing in reserve, but we did! Faith in God and in yourself will make you do some crazy things.

After a long search and many closed doors, we finally found the gem that was just right for us! On June 19, 2015 our restaurant, Jrama's Soulfood Grille & Barbecue Pit opened at 1237 Front Street in Binghamton.  Read about our story in our local newspaper in Binghamton, NY. Jrama's in the Press n Sun Bulletin  We serve food with a southern hospitality that makes you feel like you're in your Grandmother's kitchen.   We didn’t know the demand for our food would grow so quickly.  Our customers told their friends and their friends told their friends.  This year, we were awarded the Reader’s Choice Award for best barbecue in our area by the Press & Sun Bulletin!  We then decided to expand our services to catering.  We quickly realized that our commercial kitchen was too small to manage large catering jobs.  We needed more space to appropriately service larger jobs.  As our catering business began to increase, we started looking for a location that would allow us the space to grow. You can also visit our website at www.jramas.com

In our search for our catering location this summer, we were blessed to encounter the owners of a venue  known to Binghamton locals as Island Fever on State Street.  The owners have relocated back to the Jersey area and have trusted us enough to leave their life investment in our hands.  Even though we didn't have all the money, they believed in our vision so much they gave us the keys and said good luck! They wanted to leave it with someone whom they knew would make them proud.  I signed the contract so I am now on the hook.  But I believe in God, good people and hard work!  So if you believe that a community based event center/ catering hall is needed then please share and support this campaign. Together, we are strong, but alone, we all are weak.

So what’s next? Our team will look to partner throughout the community to do fundraisers. Also we will partner with other small restaurants so that they can utilize our facility so that they can host bigger catering jobs. (We all lose plenty of revenue due to the size of our small restaurants)  We can't wait to host your wedding, team meetings, charity luncheons, silent auctions, award shows, etc…

We’ve made the first non-refundable payment to the owners and our closing is November 1st.  We have opened this fund in an effort to raise $60,000.  My wife and I will invest our last to ensure the campaign gets us to our grand opening.

WE NEED YOU
We are asking our patrons, friends and family to help us get to closing this November.  This campaign is about faith and the belief that we can bring a great business to the Northside of Binghamton.

What makes this campaign unique?
Whatever our patrons put into the campaign, is what you get out.  Most campaigns simply want you to give.  However, we want our supporters to have real, tangible benefits to participating in our success.  $20 in our campaign means you will receive $20 in gift certificates.  For larger gifts, we want patrons to become a part of our legacy.  Please see our levels of support below. In the coming years, we want to be able to continue to feed you like family in our new space. You can help us make this a reality!  Sowing a seed with Jrama’s is a win-win situation for everyone.  Get us to closing and you get great food and gifts.  If you haven’t been to Jrama’s before or have never had our food, we encourage you to checkout our reviews. See what people are saying about Jrama's Barbecue Pit.  Donors never lose a penny, but help us grow.

Why should you help make this catering hall a reality?

The difference between our catering hall and other catering halls is our focus will be in GIVING BACK. Every event will have a charitable component to it. Yes, even your wedding! And on our    website for the catering hall, you will be able to follow how much money is raised and donated throughout the community. We’re about having fun while we help others.

CALL TO ACTION
Let’s raise this $60,000.  We know it sounds like a lot, but it’s all about perspective.  If 3,000 people donate $20, we reach our goal!  If 1,500 people donate $40, we reach our goal!  See all the ways you can support the campaign below.
