We invite you to become a Kangaroos Alive Guardian for 2021.
Please become a guardian for kangaroos and help Kangaroos Alive expand its international team to stop the barbaric treatment of our beloved icon.
Over the past 6 years filmmakers Mick McIntyre and Kate McIntyre Clere created the award-winning documentary KANGAROO A Love-Hate Story uncovering a cruel and hostile reality for thousands of kangaroos. The kangaroos are subject to the largest commercial slaughter of terrestrial wildlife on the planet.
Deeply affected by the stories they investigated, and working with Greg Keightley and Diane Smith they have created the not for profit Kangaroos Alive-a global movement for the ethical treatment of kangaroos.
Diane and Greg are brave whistleblowers calling out the commercial kangaroo industry for horrific crimes against kangaroos. They work tirelessly as first responders to kangaroos in need.
In 2020 your contributions helped Kangaroos Alive
- provide funds for emergency care to kangaroos particularly in the regions hit by the Black Summer fires. We worked in rescue and rehabilitation for many kangaroos and joeys affected by the fires and the ongoing issues created in the burnt habitat.
- partner with the Animal Justice Party establishing WORLD KANGAROO DAY, creating worldwide media coverage and securing renowned Australian cricket player Jason 'Dizzy' Gillespie as the first World Kangaroo Day Ambassador.
- launch a visual petition to show the faces of people that care for kangaroos around the world and call for a moratorium on commercial killing of kangaroos
- lobby State and Federal governments by writing submissions and creating petitions for policy change
- partner with the Eurogroup for Animals to bring the attention of the kangaroo slaughter to Europe, the largest importer of kangaroo body parts. This work resulted in over 100 Members of the European parliament calling for a ban on kangaroo imports into the EU
- join a collation of groups in Europe that has successfully lobbied large companies to stop using kangaroo body parts including PRADA, VERSACE, DIADORA, GUCCI, CARREFOUR supermarkets
