Journey to the Olympics: Support Brooke D’Hondt

Brooke D'Hondt at 16 years old has qualified for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. At 13, she won the Burton Junior Jam and made her debut on the professional stage. The following season she was rewarded with invitations to compete at Dew Tour, XGames and the Burton Open. This is pretty impressive for any snowboarder, let alone a Canadian girl still in junior high school!

It's a long journey with a lot of hard work, passion, dedication, emotional and physical challenges. The journey for an athlete to get to the Olympics especially at a young age takes a village to support in multiple ways. The cost of competitions, travel, accommodations and training add up quickly. In one year, it could cost upwards of $100,000. Amazing companies like Burton, Vans and Unlimited have provided Brooke with excellent gear and help her look great on the hill but there is so much more. Brooke's positive attitude and the resourcefulness of her parents have made this journey possible however, another season of training and competitions to get to the Olympics is a long and expensive journey and only possible with support from others.

Canadian athletes often have to cover their own cost. If athletes qualify for a Canadian national team there can be good resources however limited financial support. As a member of the Canadian national halfpipe team, Brooke is truly grateful for the support however the reality is it won't be enough for her to get there.

Brooke needs financial support in her journey to get to Beijing her first Olympics, which is why I and others wanted to create this Go Fund me page to support Brooke. Invest in a Canadian Athlete, invest in Brooke, make a dream come true. Any amount will help. (Keep reading it's worth it).

Here is a break down of costs for a season and the road to the Olympics.

Accommodation $23,000

Training, Camps and Entry Fees $17,000

Lift Tickets and passes (yes she has to pay for lift tickets) $6,500

Also as we are about to launch the Gofundme page, Lululemon has chosen Brooke as an ambassador of their apparel for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. It is wonderful they are supporting all athletes through the Olympic Foundations.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to help Brooke which doesn’t cover all of the costs as you can see from the breakdown. As a thank you for those that donate we will provide recognition for donors that are supporting Brooke.
