Hi Friends,
Life was cruising right along a few weeks ago. My Ohio visit was just about to come to a close- I was able to spend cherished time with my grandchildren; I successfully sneaked into town and surprised my Mother for her 81st birthday; and had just cycled through visits with remaining family members when I learned of my Mother's heart attack and plans for a triple bypass.
Once the shock waned and troops rallied, we settled in for the worse. At 81- this could only turn out bad - right? As though prophetic, after being home just over a week, I rush my Mother back to the hospital, now with a stroke.
But Mother is a fighter and God is great. She lives alone and recovery will be long and arduous. I have chosen to be by her side through this battle, but this choice doesn't come without sacrifice. I work as a Personal Trainer, thus must be present to maintain an income stream. I have been fortunate to keep all financial balls in the air so far, but am concerned that as recovery plays out, I could run out of money before I run out of time.
Early April, I plan to fly back to Texas, turn right around and drive my car back to Ohio so that I can get to Mother to the barrage of doctor visits and follow-up therapy. Any support that you could provide in April will help keep my Texas expenses going, and offset costs during my stay in Ohio until my Mother is out of the woods. Sometimes you just have to do the right thing- even if it's not the most convenient. I wouldn't dream of leaving her side in spite of myself.
