The ONLY good thing to come from 2020, Josie has found her Kidney MATCH!
Josie has suffered from kidney disease since she was a small child, after childbirth the functionality began to decrease rapidly. In early 2016 she was placed on the kidney transplant list, although all willing friends and family members were tested for a potential match none were successful. Although she was tired of not living her life to the fullest, due to her body turning on her - she remained hopeful and patiently waited; knowing that God was watching over her. Josie was unable to continue working, but ever the kind-spirited woman that she is, she made an effort to continue to be there for her 3 children, Mikey, Maddie, and Joseph, and her husband Michael. She did this every day, with a smile, no matter how much pain she may have been in.
Now is her time, almost 5 years later and she got the call; on 12.29.20, there was a kidney match, and she would need to be in Houston on 12.30.20 for surgery at 6:00 AM.
After Josie's surgery, she will remain in the hospital for one week to ensure that her body accepts the kidney. Once released from Memorial Hermann, she will then be required to stay at a hotel right next to the hospital, for an additional 3 weeks. During this time, she will have multiple weekly appointments with her transplant team to further ensure that the surgery was a complete success
With this blessing, comes the additional financial burden of hospital and hotel bills, as well as travel expenses.
