Family and Friends, please consider donating to the Joseph Walker III Memorial Fund. It is with great regret to inform you of Joseph's passing on Sunday, July 2, 2017.
Joe enlisted in the US Army Infantry shortly after the 9/11 attacks. After graduating from Basic and Advanced Training at Ft. Benning GA, Joe was assigned to the first operational Stryker Combat Brigade Team with the 2nd Infantry Division at Ft. Lewis WA. He deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom I and II (2003-4) where he earned the Combat Infantry Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and other decorations. While in Iraq, he served as a Designated Marksman and graduated from the “in-country” Sniper School. During his combat duty, he survived three IED attacks, one which destroyed their Stryker Armored Vehicle. Returning to Ft. Lewis, Joe was selected to attend the US Army’s Sniper School at Ft. Benning GA where he graduated in 2005. He served as the Assistant Leader and Primary Sniper for his Team.
Joe and Kelly were married in July 2016 before moving from SC to the Washington DC area to join the Olgoonik family in December 2016, working for a Department of State project. Prior to his employment with Olgoonik he was an instructor, teaching counter-IED systems to soldiers using his personal experience in Iraq and passion to help others avoid a similar fate.
This is a devastating loss for Joe's family and Olgoonik.

Celebration of Life and Interment Services will be held Monday 17 July 2017 at Ft Huachuca’s Main Post Chapel and the adjacent Veteran’s Cemetery.
