Jose Bello, BC Student Legal Fees

On Tuesday, May 22, 2018, ICE profiled and detained Bakersfield College student, Jose Bello while he was on his way to work.
Jose Bello has shown himself to be an exemplary student on campus and deserves the opportunity, as do all students, to continue his education and strive toward his goals.
Since starting his college career he has maintained above a 3.0 GPA. He is pursuing a Business Administration Associate for Transfer degree from Bakersfield College then plans to transfer to CSU Bakersfield. After completing his bachelor's degree, he dreams of going to law school.
“This fellow Renegade is a student, just like me or you, your son or daughter,” Tompkins said in a statement released to the BC student body. “Coming from a similar background, I know that he was driven to fight for justice in our community.”
BC History professor, Rosa Garza, described Jose Bello-Reyes as an energetic student who was always ready to learn.
“He clearly appreciated the opportunity to be a student,” said Garza. “He earned an A in the class.”
