Jo's campaign for N.I.C.A.M.

To kick start the year and in an effort to give something back to someone who constantly put others first, I’ve signed up to run 50 miles in January for NICAM - the charity set up by the amazing Melanie Kennedy. But I won’t be doing it alone, Stuart and our eldest kid, Oliver (7 years old) will each run 50 miles too. So if you’d like to support us in our efforts then please give what you can to this amazing charity.

It was seven years ago today that Melanie was diagnosed (4 January) so today seems like an apt day to put this out there and January an apt month to run this. Melanie sadly passed away in September last year and has left a huge void for many. However, her legacy and vision lives on in NICAM .

I first met Melanie at a tots group 6 years ago. She was with her youngest boy (AJ) who is slightly older than my eldest (Oliver) and we sat and nattered over the buzz of kids, parents and sing songs. She’d just had her cancer diagnosis and my Dad had just been diagnosed too. Despite what she was going through herself, she offered a listening ear and really sound advice about Dad’s situation. Our paths crossed many times since then and she was always an inspiration to me. A Wonder Woman. So this is for her, in her memory and in support of the amazing legacy that she left in her charity.
