Flood Relief Fund For My Parents

Donation protected
My heart aches for Houston, but especially for my wonderful parents who have lost their home during this tragic natural disaster. My dad had just moved out of their rental and into their very own home just one week before the storm hit. Due to the fact that renovations to the house had just been completed, my father did not have time to get flood insurance on their home. Of course, many did not foresee the gravity of this storm. Water filled their home about 4 to 5 feet high and ruined all of their furniture, beds, clothes, and kitchen appliances. To make matters worse, when neighbors rescued them by boat, the boat flipped over mid ride while my disabled mother (paralyzed from right side of body due to brain aneurism) was on board along with her wheelchair. Luckily, with the help of my dad and others, she left the scene unharmed, but her custom wheelchair was lost in the debacle. And recently, after a series of unfortunate financial events, my dad had to stop paying my mother's very expensive insurance premiums so getting a new chair through insurance is out of the question. I humbly ask for your help and support during these tough times. I ask that you help my mom and dad rebuild their home. My mom requires a disability friendly space, which is why getting their house back to normal is necessary. The funds will go towards removing and replacing sheetrock, replacing kitchen cabinets, painting, a new custom wheelchair, a bed, etc. They're honorable, loving, and kind human beings. I want to make this process go as easily as possible for them. I wish I could help them financially, but I'm just not there yet. Help me help them. I will forever be grateful.

With love & gratitude, Mayra & Jackie Leal
