'Marco' Jorge Campanur's Accident Relief Fund

Donation protected
On Saturday 2/29 Jorge Campanur, (or Marco as his TrekAmerica fam know him), was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle. His wife, Edith Ortega told us that he was on his way to see his Mom where she thought he was staying that evening before a soccer game on Sunday. When he didn't show up after the game had ended she got worried, called his Mom and found out he had never shown up to her house. They both thought he was with the other. They filed a missing persons report and were not able to locate him until Monday at the hospital in Lynwood, CA where he was in critical condition.

Jorge has been through several surgeries over the previous 9 days to repair broken bones including a broken patella, ribs and his jaw which is wired shut and he is breathing though a stoma. As of this posting on 3/9 he has still not regained consciousness but his family remains hopeful that he will soon start to respond to them as he did briefly before his recent surgery.

Whether you know Jorge from being on a soccer team, kickball team, as a co-worker, family member or a friend, you know that he is the kind of guy that would do anything he can to help out. Just being around him you can't help but smile because his grin and laugh is contagious and his energy is always so upbeat and positive.

Having known him first as a coworker nicknamed Marco at Trek, then as teammate, backpacking companion, a brother in E Clampus Vitus and a friend as Jorge, I know so many people who've always wanted the best for him and I know his Trek family is very appreciative to Heather Zaimes for making so many of us aware of his situation.

For those who did not know, he and Edith, who he had known since high school, were married on his birthday on January 25th, 2019, just over a year ago. Just two days before his accident he got his residency and she said he was so happy about that.

His family is so very appreciative of the support and prayers and well wishes that so many have shown. This fund will go to support his ever mounting medical bills and to help Edith continue to be able to be with him through his hospital stay and recovery.

Please donate what you can and write some of your stories of your times together or a time that he went above and beyond in the comments below. These comments will be read to Jorge to help him come up with the strength to pull through this and they'll be read BY Jorge when he does!
