Update December 11, 8:30am:
Jordan is in very critical condition but stable. He will remain on the ventilator as of now. Jordan sustained a lot of damage to his lungs. With his diaphragm being ruptured, all his organ pressed up into his lungs. Through the night, his temp started to spike, so they put a cooling blanket on him to help. His urine output has decreased and they will monitor that very closely. They have been trying to wean him off meds to stabile his blood pressure. He has been 2 hours without. This has went back and forth throughout the night. When the nurses and doctors agitate him from trying to stimulate him, he has opened his eyes for a second. This is great news because when they first flew him down, they tried to get him to wake up, with the vent on, and he didn’t regain consciousness. The boys finally got a little sleep last night. Joy and Derik have been taking turns trying to get some rest. Thank you all for the continued prayers. Joy and Derik and the boys read all the comments and we also sit down and I go through everyone that has messaged me, they just don’t have the energy or strength right now to respond. But please know that they are all aware of everyone’s thoughts and prayers.
Update 7:51pm:
Surgery went well. Spinal surgery took less time than internal injury surgery. In the internal injury surgery, his spleen and liver had some damage, he has drain tubes and he will remain on a ventilator for a little while (they haven’t told us for how long) but overall went well. Originally they were going to remove some of his spine, they didn’t have to!!!!!! He has a cage around his spine to protect the spine. He had several nerves that were completely severed but he had a bunch that weren’t! So that means that he may get some feeling in his legs. No one knows and can even give a percentage on anything that will happen in the future but we have to take what positive information that we get and focus on that. Jordan will be in the hospital for quite awhile and need lots of care, but the most important thing is, he’s alive! Everything else will be day to day progress. I will continue to update but probably not until tomorrow. Joy and Derik will stay with him tonight. No one can see him except them right now. Joy and Derik will FaceTime their kids when they are in the room with him so they can at least see him. Jordan isn’t out of the woods yet but we will take the surgery as a win!
Once Jordan is out of post op, we will all (besides Joy and Derik) head to the hotel and hopefully get some sleep.
Joy, Derik and the boys can’t thank everyone enough for all the love, support, and donations that you all have given. Buddy and I want to thank everyone also.
We had 5 of the boys best friends show up tonight to be there for the family. We are truly grateful and lucky! I will update in the morning and eventually, Joy and Derik will take over.
Update: 4:35pm:
We just got a Call saying that they just finished with the first surgery. All the internal organs seem to have went back and the diaphragm repaired. He is stable and doing ok. They were just getting ready to flip him over and start the spine surgery, which is going to be the really long surgery. Joy Officer, Derik Powell, and the boys are holding up the best they can. Jordan Officer will have a very long stay in the hospital. I will update when we get our next call from the operating room.

Update on Jordan Officer:
Jordan is in very critical condition but stable enough for surgery. They are going to first fix his ruptured diaphragm and put all his organ back where they belong. After that surgery is completed, they will flip him over and do spinal surgery. They have to remove part of his spine due to the damage. He has lots of blood loss and has had 4 transfusions before he even went to surgery. They hope after surgery and more transfusions, he won’t need more. We won’t know anything for a couple of hours when they come and update us. Joy Officer, Derik Powell, and kids and trying to be as strong as they can. I will update after we know more.

Hi, I’m Joy’s niece and I’m setting this up to help her out during this difficult time. Joy is an amazing single, hard working momma. Two of her sons, Lakoda and Jordan were involved in a terrible car accident. Jordan has sustained many injuries. He has been life flighted to Primary Children’s Hospital in SLC. He will have a very long hospital stay along with many surgeries. As of right now he has a broken back, a few internal lacerations and a ruptured diaphragm. Please help out her family if you can! Many prayers are appreciated.
