Jon's Medical Fund

On Saturday, September 27, 2014, Jon was involved in a motorcycle accident in Princeton, MN. He suffered severe lacerations to his right eyelid, nose and the back of his head. He was airlifted from the accident scene to North Memorial in Robinsdale, MN. After an immediate full-body CT scan, the doctors determined that Jon had a hematoma in his abdomen and a severely broken left shoulder. Considering he was not wearing his helmet, he is extremely lucky to have not suffered any brain trauma or broken bones in his face, other than a couple missing teeth.

On Sunday, September 28, 2014, Jon underwent multiple surgeries (11:45am-5:30pm), including eye surgery to repair the tear ducts in both eyes, reattaching the tendon in his right eye, and repair/stitch up the lacerated eyelid and surrounding areas; cosmetic surgery and skin graft on his nose (which will need a second surgery once the first bit heals); and lastly, orthopedic surgery on his broken shoulder to insert a plate and multiple screws (which will remain there permanently). Jon was then kept in the critical ICU for the remainder of Sunday night. Around 1:00pm on Monday, September 29, 2014, Jon was moved from the critical ICU unit to the Trauma-Neuro ICU, where he stayed for the following two days.

Moving forward, Jon will also need repairs to his two front teeth, and many weeks of physical therapy to regain some ROM. in his shoulder. He is in extremely good hands at North Memorial, and has had an amazing support system through it all, including his two loving daughters, Stacy and Kelly (ages 24 and 22). It will be a long road to recovery, but having your support, your thoughts, and your prayers will keep Jon and his family strong during this difficult time.
