Our friend of over 20 years, Jon Curto, who is 65 years old, was in a serious car accident on Jan. 20, 2017. Jon was struck on the right side of his car by a fire truck. Following the initial impact, Jon's Santa Fe crashed into a stopped school bus with children on board. No one was injured on the bus.
But our friend Jon suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash. He was in acoma for almost a week, with a serious Tramatic Brain injury, and injuries to various parts of his body. Once he came out of his acoma, he had over 3 months of therapy to learn how to swallow, eat, speak, stand, and walk again. It has been a very difficult time for him and his family.
Before Jon's accident, he had a full time job, he was very active in the community and enjoyed traveling and being with his family.
As of today, Jon still has a lot of issues with standing, walking, dizziness, and speaking. He can't drive a car, nor work with his brain injury. He lives alone with help from his family. But Jon doesn't have any income coming in because he can't work, and no medical coverage.
It's been over a year now, and Jon's doctor said there is a new treatment available called Hyberbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). He said it has helped improve the lives of many other patients. This treatment uses pure oxygen to help speed and enhance the body's natural ability to heal in a high dose oxygen therapy.
Jon's doctor said he would need at least need 15, possibly 20 treatments, which are $250.00 per treatment. After which time the Doctor will evaluate if he needs additional treatments.
Jon, as well as his family and friends, would love to see Jon start receiving these treatments very soon, and hopes to fully recover so he can begin to enjoy his life again.
