Join the Fight, Help Mum Joanne's Cancer Battle

On Friday 20th January our World came crashing down when Joanne Margerison had a scan that suspected she had primary bowel cancer that had spread to her liver, lungs, bones and spleen. She has since undergone numerous colonoscopies to obtain biopsies to confirm the diagnosis and had two stents fitted into her colon to try to stop any blockages and to try and give Jo some comfort from the pain she is suffering in that area. This diagnosis is incurable.

Due to the aggressiveness of the disease Jos only option at present is palliative chemotherapy to prolong her life, which she commenced on the 13th Feb. She has further undergone a bone biopsy to see if a targeted treatment may be able to be added into her treatment plan. We await these results. The Oncologist has informed us that the type of tumour Jo has will not respond to immunotherapy so this is not an option. If the treatment is not effective then sadly the NHS cannot offer any other treatments apart from supportive care where Jo will be kept comfortable.

On researching other treatment options in different countries we have found that Germany have more to offer but this will cost in excess of £40000 for TACE treatment for her liver and dendritic cell therapy which will cost in excess of £80000.

Jo is 40 years old and has 3 amazing children Oliver 14, Teddy 7 and Tahlia 5 who are her entire World. Anyone that knows Jo knows what a fantastic super mum she is and the precious memories she has made up to now with her children.

For 20 years Jo has dedicated her life to working in the NHS and for the past 10 years has worked as a Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist being the main point of contact for patients with Haematological cancers, being a great support for thousands of patients guiding them through chemo and their cancer journey effectively.

We have set up this fundraising page to help support Jo and her family at this difficult time. The funds will be used towards treatment, travel, etc or to ensure her comfort while trying to navigate her way through this very difficult time.
