Join the Fight for Annie's Mental Health Treatment

My beautiful 13 year old daughter Annie is struggling to stabilize her mental health. She was severely abused and neglected before she came to our family at the age of 2. The trauma she suffered, along with a family history of mental health issues, has caused her to need treatment outside of our home for much of the past year. She has had multiple hospitalizations and we have had difficulty finding a facility to accept her that will attempt to help her due to her high risk behaviors. She has Reactive Attachment Disorder, severe depression and has attempted suicide.

She has not been able to go to school consistently and is not able to be served at our local school. She has only been home a few days at a time and really needs to catch up! My husband Jeff can only work  on my day off while she is home because she requires 24 hour care to keep her safe. I am working 2 jobs and that still isn't enough to pay for her care.

Insurance is a nightmare when mental health treatment is concerned. The law says there is parity, but there really isn't. Every single day of treatment is a fight. During Annie's most recent psychiatric hospitalization in October and November, the facility tried over 30 places that insurance would likely have covered. None of the facilities would accept her due to her high risk behaviors. This left her being discharged to us at home or being left at the facility and having social services get involved.

We brought her home. All of our sharp things are locked up, child locks are on our cars to keep her from jumping out and her room is pretty barren because we do not want her to have things to self-harm with.

She is motivated for treatment at this time and the best course of care is to get her into a therapeutic boarding school. We found a school that is a great fit. The school, even with our "discount" and insurance, has a cost of $5,000/month. We have spent all of our savings trying to help her over the past year and are still paying a previous treatment center.

The money you donate will be used to pay for her schooling and treatment.

Due to her very unstable condition, we really need to get her in to the school as soon as possible. We are hoping to take her in the next few weeks. If she is hospitalized again, we will be out of options.
