Sydney’s Story:

If you know or don’t know Sydney, she is an amazing, kind-hearted, funny 9-year-old, who touches your heart and is unforgettable from the moment she walks in your path.

Sydney is the daughter of Alyssa and Mark Whitaker. Sydney is very girly with a love for shopping and anything girls at this age and generation enjoy, Sydney adores animals, soccer, slime, and the magic of Disney World. Her interests reflect the vibrant spirit of this remarkable young girl.

In January 2024, Sydney was rushed to the ER, where it was discovered, Sydney had a large mass on her brain during a CT. She was instantly trauma-hawked to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami where an MRI identified she had a cancerous brain tumor called Medulloblastoma. The following day Sydney underwent an intricate and complex surgery to remove the tumor, leading to an extended hospital stay for recovery.

Sydney is undergoing intensive treatment due to life-altering physical impairments from the tumor. Her daily struggle reflects unwavering determination. The treatments for Sydney will be rigorous as she confronts this difficult challenge and fiercely fights daily.

Treatment Plan

Sydney's fight against this cancerous brain tumor entails a thorough treatment plan, incorporating radiation therapy, chemotherapy, ongoing testing, specialized follow-ups essential physical/occupational therapy and more.

Sydney will be undergoing Medulloblastoma treatment, keeping her away from school and cherished activities for the next year or more. The hospital staff has fallen in love with Sydney and is inspired by Sydney's determination to regain a normal childhood, embracing the activities she loves.

It's often unimaginable for families to believe such circumstances could happen to them until they do. Suddenly, they are faced with the emotional, physical, and financial burdens that are overwhelming for the individual and their families.
