New things are happening and I'm a little nervous but so excited!!!

After four and a half years, (many degree changes), hard work, and determination, I'll be graduating this May with a Bachelor of Social Work from UW Eau Claire! The next step is taking on graduate school in the fall but in the meantime... I'm going to South Africa to intern at a youth and children's home!!

Just a couple of days after walking the stage at graduation, I will be hopping on a one-way flight, to start my South African journey! I'll arrive in Johannesburg before flying to Durban, where I'll be living independently and working for three months as an intern at the Durban Child and Youth Care Centre.

The only drawback is that the internship doesn’t offer financial assistance, meaning I’m responsible for covering my flights, housing, living expenses, and everything else. Since I’ve been able to work while in school, I’ve saved up some money, but not being able to earn over the summer while I’m away, and then jumping straight into graduate school just weeks after returning, along with the costs of a new apartment and enrollment, it makes me worried it won’t be enough.

I felt hesitant to ask, but I figured if you’re as proud of me as I am, maybe you wouldn’t mind contributing a few dollars toward this next exciting chapter. South Africa, here I come!
