Life can change in a moment.
After months of urgent care visits MRI, CT scans and a rushed ER visit at the urging of the doctor, Linda found out she has stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. She is 54 years old. Much to young to be worrying about leaving her family this soon.
Linda will be having 3 rounds of chemo followed by a major surgery - hysterectomy and a Bilateral Salpingo-oophorectomy to remove the 11 cm tumor that has grown from her left ovary. Since the cancer has spread to the Omentum, it will be removed during the same surgery. After her surgery, she will have 3 more rounds of chemo to eliminate the cells in the stomach lining and abdominal fluid. The doctor will then evaluate potential next steps depending on the effectiveness of chemotherapy.
Linda has touched the lives of so many people. She has been working with special needs children for 23 years as well as substituting for teachers in various classes. In her spare time, when she’s not cheering her head off at a grandkids basketball game, she is helping to ensure that her grandbabies make it to a number of after school activities and working one on one during the summertime with children with special needs.
This is going to be a long journey for Linda and our family. The bond that she has is with our kids indescribable as she has lived with them most of their lives.
Funds from this tremendous effort will go towards her chemo treatments and surgery expenses. We expect her costs will be very expensive, but we are going to do whatever it takes to ensure that she is able to get the treatment that she needs to get healthy and be here for the grandbabies she loves so much as well as her adopted children at the various school districts.
