John's Support Squad

As many of you know, John has been in the hospital since early August. After weeks of feeling run down by what he thought was a sinus infection or cold, he went to urgent care because he felt fatigued and breathless. After determining that his heart rhythm was irregular, they referred him to the ER. He has been on a medical rollercoaster ever since.
The long and short of it is that John's heart is not pumping sufficiently to fuel his body and other organs. He has had multiple procedures and and surgeries to keep his heart, liver, lungs, and kidneys working. There has been progress, but it is far from linear and the road back to health will be longer than hoped.
Through it all, John's wonderful partner, Sarah, and his family have been constantly at his side. They are his advocates, cheerleaders, bedside attendants, and community organizers. Sarah commutes to Christ Advocate in Oak Lawn daily from Evanston, John's parents from Wheaton, and his sisters come as frequently as they can from towns near the Wisconsin border and Florida. They do it uncomplainingly and with complete dedication to John's recovery.
John's friends who wish we could be near him but aren't take comfort in knowing that he has the ultimate support squad in Sarah and John's family. We want to offset the financial costs Sarah and the family incur to be with John, which include gas for commuting, staying in the hotel near the hospital after late nights with John, meals at the hospital cafe or nearby restaurants, etc.
It is clear from the outpouring of support that there is so much love being sent John's way every day. It means the world to John and to his loved ones. If you are able to donate even a small amount, the funds will help ensure he can have his nearest and dearest by his side through it all.
