Johnny5’s Bucket List

Hi there, my name is John and I am 45 years old and just over a month ago I was diagnosed with stomach cancer and was told if I don’t have Chemo I would be looking at approx 6-8 months and if I have chemo 12-16 months.

Safe to say our world was turned upside down and I was in a dark place for a few weeks but I have pulled my big girls pants up and would love to make the most of my time left.

I have a daughter Rachel and a son Ryan and my granddaughter Harper who has just turned 1.

This isn’t just about begging or asking for kind donations to try and enjoy my final months, I would love to send out a strong message for everybody to please check yourself regular for any lumps or if something doesn’t feel right within yourself go and see a Dr straight away and get it checked out. I didn’t straight away so please don’t be a Johnny!
I always thought that something like this would never happen to me but here we are. If I can make 1 person get checked out straight away and help save a life that will be worth more than any money. I have worked hard and long hours alI my life and never claimed benefits but sadly and stupidly I have not got life insurance either. Please please if you have not got life insurance then get some as you think it will never happen to you but I can say sadly it does.

I have made a small bucket list of things I would love to do before I depart and are I hope realistic.

1. Take the kids and granddaughter to Disney in Florida - this is where most of the money I raise will go, it’s a big ask but top of my list.

2. Go watch a live F1 race, big Merc fan - this is one thing I have been saying for 5 years but never got around to it and with fans unable to attend I don’t think this is going to happen.

3. just make as many memories with the kids and granddaughter as possible and remain positive throughout.

I am not expecting to raise anything being honest as there are people out there in a far worse position than me but I can only hope.
