The John Cussell Memorial Fund

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Cussell.
Despite recovering from a successful operation two years ago, a recent sarcoma recurrence saw John fight a courageous battle. He was kind, generous and a gentleman till the end.
We have set up this page as a way for family, friends and everyone who knew John to pay tribute to him with messages, memories and donations. John was a dedicated charity fundraiser, so instead of flowers and wreaths we thought a more lasting and worthwhile tribute would be a memorial fund. Donating to a good cause is synonymous to John and will create a legacy in his name.
The fund will pay for a scholarship to support young silversmiths and a training course for master craftsmen to impart their knowledge to the next generation of silversmiths. This is imperative to ensure the ancient skills of silversmithing are not lost, thus safeguarding the survival of the craft in the U.K.
We will work with Contemporary British Silversmiths which is a not-for-profit organisation and soon to be charity to deliver the training course. The co founder of the C.B.S.’s Skills Training Programme is John's good friend and award winning silversmith Tony Bedford who volunteers his own time for the training courses.
In this sad and surreal time it will give us comfort knowing that John's memorial fund will help keep this precious craft and John's life’s work alive.
