John Sparks Emergency Fund

Donation protected
On Thursday, April 15, our brother John was found unconscious outside of his truck (he is a long haul trucker) in rural Manitoba.  The good samaritan who stopped, called 911 and stayed with him until the ambulance came. He was diagnosed with pancreatitis at the hospital.  He was in serious condition. On Friday, his kidneys were starting to shut down and he was transferred to HSC-MICU in Winnipeg. He was in severe pain, his kidneys weren’t working and he was retaining fluid. He had dialysis for a few days and he is slowly improving. Because of Covid, he is alone in Winnipeg and his family is here trying to manage everything
Prior to this he had taken time off work to be with his wife, Sheila who was battling breast cancer and is still dealing with it. They were just starting to get back on their feet financially when this happened.  John is the major bread winner in the family and we are unsure when he will be back to work. As a result of everything she hasn’t been working. Only returning to work this week out of necessity. When he is released, she will need to travel 18 hours to get him. Then start the process of healing at home and lining up care for him so she can return to work
We are raising funds to help with medical expenses and ease the financial burden so that he can take the time he needs to heal before returning to work. As he is self employed, he has no sick benefits that he can access. So no EI or WCB because he wasn’t injured but became sick
