John Michael Adams Medical Fund

Donation protected
In October 2017, John Michael Adams, a 17-year-old student at Huntsville’s Alpha Omega Academy went to the doctor with severe abdominal pain which was thought to be appendicitis.

After a CT scan showed a mass in his abdomen, John Michael was admitted through the ER at Texas Children’s Hospital in The Woodlands, where he spent a week. Doctors performed a biopsy, which ultimately revealed that he had Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor (IMT), a rare type of cancer occurring most often in children. John Michael underwent surgery in November to remove the tumor, and is scheduled to meet with an oncologist and vascular surgeon in February to discuss a treatment plan.

John Michael’s medical bills have been significant and his family is trying to catch up but it’s been difficult. Between the cost of hospital stays, surgeries and doctor bills, the families’ savings accounts have been depleted. John Michael has had to leave school this year because of his absences and is taking courses at home, which is another added expense.

Any way you might be able to help this family is greatly appreciated!
