Dear Friends and Members of The Shooting & Hunting Eternity,
It has been brought to our attention this week that a true gentleman of the kangaroo industry was on his facebook page offering the sale of the tools of his trade to subsidise the cost of treatment that he has been diagnosed with.
This true gentleman is John McKrill, we are all on the roo shooters page because John has either invited us or accepted us. Some of us have known John for a long time, some a short time, some have never met him in person, on this page John has shared many skills of his trade and shared a few home truths about the cowboys and not to mention the green party, he is always there to answer questions being asked and gives great advice.
Of late his personnal life has rocked him and his family. We recall several months ago the accident his daughter had when a kangaroo went through her car when she was driving the grandchildren up for a surprise visit, which was not a nice thing to deal with.
This was the start of some harsh cards dealt to him and his family.
Next up was the shocking news that his wife Carol was assaulted on her way home from work, which left her with bad injuries; she was then flown to Perth by Royal Flying Doctor and admitted into hospital. Johns work commitments where then put on hold while he nursed Carol back to reasonable health. Then follows the dreaded court case which must have been harrowing for John, Carol and there family, plus the mental scarring to deal with from the attack.
They started to see the light at the end of tunnel, when John has been faced with another issue.
The news came through after a health check that John now has been dignosed with a rare rectal cancer, which means more sleepless nights, the worry factor and the burden of not being able to bring in a wage. John and Carol live in a remote area, and will need to travel frequently and need to be accommodated for future treatment.
John is a professional roo shooter, so this is his only means of an income. John is a 3rd generation roo shooter in a industry that has vastly changed over these years, which places a person like him very unique in this industry.
Being the man he is he has to put his shooting days on hold and is willing to sell his tools of trade to finance treatment.
This has hit many people that are on his page or just know John and Carol, so we have decided to do The Go Fund Me Page to hopefully help John and Carol through this very bad patch of life.
So John and Carol with your permission lets restore the belief that shooters/hunters are human and look after our own in a time like this. We all know if the shoe was on the other foot you as a family would be the first to help out.
