John Kerig Flood Relief
Donation protected
On September 14th 2018, John Kerig, a retired IATSE Local 22 member and former Kennedy Center Opera House Assistant Electrician’s retirement dream became a nightmare. Rising floodwaters from Hurricane Florence caused in excess of $100,000 worth of damage to his home in Wallace, NC. The entire first floor was under 3’ of water, and the garage took on 5’ of water. The entire first floor and all of its contents including floors, walls, furniture and appliances were completely destroyed and have to be replaced.
John and his wife Susan had lived in the newly constructed house less than one year. Their home is 45 miles from the coast. They were told they lived in a 1,000 year flood plain and did not need flood insurance. Their homeowner’s policy does not cover any of the damage from Florence.
Brother Kerig is a former US Marine and a Vietnam Vet, and he has experienced health issues from his time in service to our country.
Please consider a donation to help John and Susan through this financial crisis so that they will eventually be able to enjoy their retirement.
