John Buckhalter, my dearest friend, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 10th. Along with his many friends and family, I'm shocked, devastated, and confused. Those of us who knew him remember how generous, kind, and giving he was to everyone around him. If anybody deserves a proper goodbye, it's John.
Saying goodbye to a loved one is difficult under any circumstance, and this is no different. I still can't believe he's gone. We spoke all too often about how we wanted to be remembered, and I want to give him exactly what he wanted- to be cremated, have a gathering of his loved ones, and to scatter his ashes.
John went through a lot, especially the last year of his life. His father died after being ill for a long time, he'd been laid off from his job and was dealing with some serious medical and emotional issues. Through it all, he kept a smile on his face and always tried to help the people he cared about. In spite of his personal struggles, he was always the first one to offer help. Whenever you were down, you could count on John to make a silly joke or cheer you up. He's left a huge hole in all of our hearts, and all we can do now is say goodbye.
We need help raising the money for a memorial service, cremation, and legal arrangements. Every penny helps, and every dime will go towards finalizing all of the necessary affairs. Please donate what you can and share this campaign. Your help is appreciated.
