Friends and Family,
We are grieved to share that our Dad, Joe Cruz, passed away at Palomar Medical Center in Rancho Bernardo Thursday, January 25th.
Joe has left behind his wife Sheryl, his 10 children and their spouses (Sarah & Josh, Stefene & Tommy, Josiah, Jacob, Sheri, Shayna, Sianna, Samara, Jared, and Shannen), and 6 grandchildren.
Currently six children are living at home (Sheri 23, Shayna 18, Sianna 16, Samara 15, Jared 13, and Shannen 10).
GoFundMe donations will help support Sheryl and the children for the next several months as they sort and figure out the next steps of life without Dad.
Donations will also greatly reduce the stress and challenges that Mom/Sheryl will face in paying medical bills, mortuary services, Celebration of Life service in addition to normal general living expenses (rent, food, gas, etc.).
Every little bit helps and we are overwhelmed with the love, prayers, and the support given already.
The past week has been very difficult. Your love and support is not overlooked. Here is more about the last moments we had with Dad:
After his biopsy on Tuesday, January 23rd, Dad was taken home to rest and recover. Hours later, Dad was taken by ambulance to ER at Palomar Medical Center, and a breathing tube was necessary to keep him alive. This was a great releif as breathing was taxing the rest of his body and causing him a lot of pain prior to our ER arrival. Over the course of the evening, Dad's organs began to shut down.
With courage and peace, Mom gathered all of us kids and shared with us that Dad would not be coming home and that we needed to prepare to spend our last moments with him in the coming hours or days.
We prayed and cried and visited with Dad. His brothers, sisters, some nieces and nephews were also able to visit during the night.
Dad was transferred to ICU early on Thursday, January 25th. While we were gathered together as children with our Mom and Dad, we sang worship songs and read scripture. During that time, around 11:30 am, Dad passed into God's Kingdom.
