Joe/Rebecca Sommer- hurricane Irma

Donation protected
On Sunday September 10 hurricane Irma made landfall on Big Pine Key and Cudjoe Key in the Florida Keys. It was the very tip of the center of this damaging historic storm.

As you can see from satellite imagery the mobile home where Joe and Rebecca lived on Big Pine is a total loss. The before imagery is located in the " Read latest updates" section on this page

They were able to transfer most of their valuables to a home on Cudjoe Key. That is where Joe works as a caretaker for Rose, a very sweet 92 year old lady.

They all weathered the storm in a nearby middle school serving as a shelter.
The last we spoke with Joe was 9am Sunday morning before cell service went out.

We have heard briefly from him via a satellite phone voicemail that they made it and are back in the house.

Today we received an email stating that their mobile home on Big Pine was torn in half and the entire neighborhood was destroyed.

We are calling on family and friends to help spread the word and donate to help in their recovery. Every dollar will help. If you are unable to donate then we ask you to keep them in your prayers.
Since there is limited contact we are creating this campaign for him.
We are his parents, Ed and Dar Sommer and we live in Buford Georgia
