Joel Paul; emergency funds after terrible accident

Donation protected

If you’re visiting Joel’s page for the first time his story is just below!  If you’re back for an update…here you go!!

Joel has been moved from ICU to a “regular” room!  He is able to sit up for a few hours and can once again eat solid food!  There will be more upcoming surgeries…the next to fix the ligaments in his knee.

Your donations thus far have lessened the burden at home for Ruth; taxes have been paid and the final stages of renovation on the apartments is in the planning stages; finishing this project will allow Ruth to have a reliable income while Joel is healing.   Thank you for continuing to share Joel’s fundraiser.

♥️

Joel Paul has been a vibrant member of our local community his whole life. As an accomplished musician and as a talented woodworker, he has graced us all with music and art. Our lives have been more beautiful because of Joel and his talents.

Last week Joel was injured in a devastating accident while felling a tree; it comes as no surprise that he was helping a neighbor. Joel is always quick to help a friend…or a stranger…in need. Now, Joel and his family are in need.

The road to recovery will be long; Joel’s injuries are extensive and severe.

Since his fathers death Joel has lived with and cared for his 93 y/o mother Ruth at their family home; for the last year he has been assisted at the farm by his devoted friend, June.

Joel’s daughter Rachel along with June, are managing not only medical care for Joel but also the care and comfort of Ruth. They have sacrificed their livelihood and time and their energy. The family home requires many hands and countless labor hours to maintain, to heat and to keep in order; imperative projects remain unfinished without Joel there. Donations will make it possible for Rachel to succeed in his absense.

♥️Your donation, however large or small, will allow Ruth to stay in the home she loves.
♥️It will allow Joel to heal and recover without the worry of his mother’s well-being.
♥️It will allow June to provide the care and comfort that Ruth and Joel require and deserve.
♥️It will allow Rachel to spend the time she needs with her father; supporting him as he mends.

Any donation is appreciated; every dollar counts. Thank you for your time and your love and your support.

If you know….

If you’re reading this, you probably know about Joel Paul’s terrible accident. He is currently at Portsmouth Hospital in the ICU in stable but critical condition. We hope you can help. He’s been a straight shooter and good friend to a lot of people for a long time. I hope that his lifetime of decency and social contribution inspires a strong reaction to this campaign, one that can sustain the farm in Stratham and his 93-year-old mother, both of which require his ongoing care. He is fighting hard everyday and making incredible progress. If you have the option of tussling with a weightlifter or a farmer, choose the weightlifter. Life on the farm is a strenuous one and renders the farmer as tough a tractor. Joel fits that description, but his injuries make the rigors of farm life impossible. They additionally make his other income stream in artisan wood carving impossible.  It’s unlikely I have to try to sell you on Joel’s character here but it’s worth going into. He’s a special fellow. Yes, yes we all are but here’s an example: I’m a career music retail employee, and long ago I recognized Joel’s natural sales ability. His charm and love of humanity just pour out of him. I knew he’d be good at it. He mentioned he was looking for work and I suggested he apply at Guitar Center. Within two years, Joel was among the top ten salespeople in the entire Guitar Center organization; GC had about 3,000 salespeople at that time. That is just insane. It is one of so many examples that stand as irrefutable testimony to Joel’s infectious personality and his commitment to helping others. Here’s another example. When Joel was selected for jury duty, to no surprise, the jury elected him foreman. Are you getting the picture? Joel’s personal power and beauty pours from him like a waterfall, and this injury is a brutal stoppage of all of that light, color, and humanity. As Joel’s friends, we can’t let the farm fall victim to a forced sale. We can’t let his mother be forced to relocate. We just can’t. Joel’s coming back. I know this because I know him. The world he returns to after his recovery must be the same one the accident has put on hold. That’s where we come in. Joel’s craft booths at street fairs and craft festivals will not be operational this ; he will not be able to tend to the farm. Joel’s recovery will be slow. Nerve regeneration is spoken of in terms of months and millimeters. We will all be there for him but his wherewithal must likewise be there with him. We cannot have the viability of the farm and Joel’s mother’s well-being impede the psychological component of Joel’s recovery. These funds are solely intended to help support the farm, Joel’s mother Ruth, caretaker/ best friend June, and Joel’s daughter Rachel. Thank you for any help you can offer here.
