My name is Joel Martín, I'm 25 years old. I was born in El Paso, Texas and my whole I've been raised in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua.
I had a pretty good childhood, there's a lot of happy memories of me growing up with my parents and my little brother, but things started shacking once I was a teenager.
My father left us, at that point I had to start working so I could take care of my own expenses but also support my family. Once my father kicked us out of our home, I had to provide more, at the point that I had to pay for the rent for the place we were living at that moment, paying for my school and trying to have good experiences at the same time.
Ever since I was a kid, I felt passion about movies and T.V. shows, ever since then I had a sense of belonging to that kind of world, but I never did something related to it, until now.
When I started college in Juarez I was decided to become an engineer, but I never stoped thinking about my true passion. Once the pandemic hit, I had some time to put things on perspective. It was at the time that I was shooting a short-film with one of my friends, he chose me as the protagonist, and I felt it, I realiced that I have the talent and the passion to be in front of the camera.
After that, I dropped out of school and decided to persue an acting career. It was last year when I decided to submit my application at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts at Los Angeles, and they gave me an audition. I flew to Dallas, Texas to have my audition, and a week and a half after the audition I was told that I was accepted. At this moment I'm working at a Credit Union, I'm also part of a play that debuted on Juarez this may and I was also part of a voice-acting master class.
This is the part when I have to be realistic; Even with all my hard work and all my enthusiasm, my income is not enough to pay for my tuiton and my housing at the Academy, which is why I'm asking for help. This is the dream of my lifetime, if I get to attend the Academy I can guarantee that I'll give back all the support to my community and I will put all my love and passion at my work. ✨️
