New Wheelchair
Donation protected
My name is Joe Ewell, I'm from Stokesdale, North Carolina and I'm a quadriplegic.
April 17th, 2005 I wrecked my motorcycle and was instantly paralyzed from the shoulders down. It hasn't always been easy but through my faith in God and the help of great friends and a wonderful family I'm doing pretty good.
However, some medical expenses can be a little difficult for my wife and I since I am on a fixed income and I don't have a job. I currently have Medicare and they will cover 80% of the cost of a new wheelchair which will cost somewhere between $30,000-$35,000. That leaves me with an expense (for the power wheelchair) that adds up to around $6,000-$7,000.
I've had my current chair for 5 years and it is showing a lot of wear. It needs repairs quite often and that can be inconvenient and expensive. I now qualify for a new chair and getting a new one would mean a lot to me. The chair I want is a power wheelchair which will be fully customized to my height, weight and preferences.
The process of getting a new chair can be a bit lengthy and I won't know the exact amount until I get the chair. If you choose to donate to this campaign ALL donations will go directly towards getting my new wheelchair. My wife and I intend to withdraw the money and when it's time we will use whatever donations we have towards the cost of the new power wheelchair. With that being said, any contributions toward helping me get a new wheelchair will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your generosity!
