Help Joe Regain Safety and Stability!
Donation protected
If you’ve ever been to a CARP distro, you will recognize Joe as our line manager. Each week Joe keeps an organized queue, while always making sure to check in on people and offer support. We are looking to return the favor by raising funds to help Joe access stable housing.
Last summer, the house Joe lived in was slated to be condemned by the city. Despite attempts to fix the structural problems with the house, Joe was unable to maintain the property, leading to his current experience of houselessness. His recent incarceration and his disability has made it difficult for Joe to find and maintain a job. Joe is nearing retirement and will be eligible for senior housing; however, the government will not provide him with housing assistance until then.
When you talk to Joe, you can feel the love he has for Kensington. Even during hard times, he has advocated for the neighborhood, working towards, as he describes it, “taking back Kensington block by block.” The money we raise will cover first, last, and the security deposit on an apartment for Joe until he can access senior housing. Every donation helps Joe achieve some stability. With a roof over his head, Joe will not only get the rest he deserves, but be able to continue to show up for his community.
