About Joe:

Joe moved to Las Vegas about 20 years ago and had been a bartender at a few of the bars in town.  He has met many people over the years not only locals but from all over the USA.  He was Mr. NGRA2006 and traveled to multiple cities promoting the rodeo association.  He also was Mr. Charlies June 2006 and then the Mr. Charlies coordinator for several years.  During this time, Joe supported the community, individuals and organizations spending countless hours volunteering and raising thousands of dollars for several of the organizations in the community, such as The St. Therese Center, NGRA and Sin Sity Sister’s, to name a few.

During this difficult time of recovery, myself, (Mark his partner of 12 years), Joe and his family turn to this same community and ask for the same support.  Even a $5.00 donation can go a long way to assist in his recovery.

 Joe’s Medical:

As many of you know, Joe was a very energetic, upbeat person that always found the good in everyone.  Currently he is very fragile and needing assistance with everything.

Joe was hospitalized on July 25, 2018, due to multiple unexpected health problems, some being related to his diabetes.  On July 27, around 3:00 am, he had coded for approximately 19 minutes and the hospital staff was able to resuscitate him.  At times, he does have some short-term memory loss.  He had been in the Intensive Care Unit, until Sunday September 2, 2018, where he was moved to the Intermediate Care Unit.  As of September 3, 2018, his discharge date is still undetermined. It has been a long, frustrating and difficult road to recovery for him.  He has and continues to hit obstacles in his recovery process, but slowly is progressing, taking it one day at a time.

On September 5, 2018, he was transferred to a long-term care facility.  Here the medical staff will ween him off the breathing machine and once that has been accomplished will be able to take out the chest tube.  He will have to go through extensive occupational and physical therapy as well as learn how to walk again, get his speech back and try to live as much of a normal life as he can.

It has been a difficult time for him not being able to be in his own home to visit with his family and friends.  If you would like to send a card, you can message me on Joe’s Facebook page for an address to send it.  If you would like to visit Joe, please send a message on his Facebook page.  I see Joe every day and will ask him if he is up for visitors, then let you know the location.  Please leave me your phone number and I will text you back with the information.

This fund is to help raise money for his current and future medical bills and to help cover some of his regular monthly obligations such as his housing payment since he has not been able to work or have any source of income.
