Joan Schmitz Journey to Relief.
I am writing this on behalf of my wife of 33 years. Joanie is looking for and needing some relief cuz a cure is not possible. This condition has been with her for 30 years. She has a constant chronic stabbing attacks pain in the ribs and trunk area. Doctors have stated that child abuse injuries with broken ribs may have caused injury that has showed later to the Intercostal Nerves. In recent years the pain has intensified, become stronger, which is hard to understand, much less tolerate. There is nothing that has offered relief, no drugs, no shots, no nerve blocks, nothing! Nothing but constant chronic pain!
As of late her constant pain and stabbing attacks have intensified again and it has her asking how much longer this can continue. She is a strong person but a good person also. Only God knows how she has stayed strong this long, it’s beyond me.
Any funds gathered will get her possibly to the Mayo Clinic, and other doctors as well. Funds will assist with other medical expenses, also. There has to be an answer for her misery but finding it has been elusive to date. Have read where burning the nerve ends helped give about 67% pain relief. That is an option to be tried. She is open to any relief, her pain level being a 10 plus every waking minute of every day, her sleep may be 1 to 2 hrs every 24 hours and many days not that much, and not all at once but by short naps when she can.
The search and journey must continue, with your generosity and prayers. The picture is Joanie and a niece and you can see the pain in her body thru her eyes, as well as a lot of love, too.
An update by Joanie: My life has been lost to pain, all I can do lately is sit and cry because of the intensity of stabbing and burning and many times it actually feels as tho I am being cut and sliced and I even start looking for the blood. The pains are that real and take my breath away. I am attacked so bad I want to scream and sometimes do. I pray every day for relief and peace from this daily agony.
