This is the moment 29 years with Cystic Fibrosis has been preparing me for and I need your help, urgently.
In Fall of 2018, after a slow decline for two years, my lung function collapsed and the effects began to wreak havoc on the rest of my body. The message was clear:
Life is not sustainable with my lungs, and it is time for a transplant.
Flash forward to today, and I am officially on the transplant list, still working each day to maintain my health, and waiting for my new lungs - ready for my new life to begin.
I am grateful for this opportunity, however, this journey requires much sacrifice. The procedure comes with, both, a high physical toll, and to put it simply, a HIGH PRICE TAG. Fortunately, my insurance covers all of the medical expenses, however, that makes up ONLY PART of the total cost.
Because of the nature of my lungs, my transplant has to be done at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) in Pittsburgh, PA. Therefore, MY FAMILY and I must endure many travel, lodging, and living expenses throughout this process.
I ask that you GIVE TODAY, not just to me, but to my family that supports me everyday, and will be by my side each step of the way.
Your contribution will be put into a family account that will help cover logistical expenses during the transplant process, and any leftover funds will continue to cover my ongoing healthcare costs when I return home.
