During the Christmas holiday season of 2017, I fell ill will no explanation. I exhibited nearly every symptom imaginable with no clue as to how to remedy them. One doctor visit and one ultrasound later, I was told I had around eight tumors on my liver and one tumor in my colon. Not too much later after that, my symptoms nearly got the best of me and my parents took me to the ER. Two and a half weeks in the ER, countless X-rays, CT scans, blood cultures, urine and stool samples, medications, and quite a few sleepless nights later... I was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer.

Still to this day, the doctors have no idea why I, as a 25 year old, have this. Maybe it was from my time serving in Afghanistan. Maybe it was something I picked up from the Oil Field or working in a cement plant. Perhaps it's genetic. Either way, I have it.

I have no other choice but to fight it.

For now, I am living in an apartment close to my mother's workplace so she can take care of me during the times (general illness and/or chemotherapy) I cannot take care of myself, which is more often than not. I am receiving chemo every two weeks, rendering me useless for about a week at a time (3 days of receiving chemo followed by 3-5 days of feeling like absolute trash).

However, I am getting stronger. Slowly, but definitely seeing improvement. I want to win this fight.

I'm not done with this life yet.

This money would primarily go towards alleviating that financial burden on my parents as they have their home and now my apartment to pay for. I can't work due to this cancer so I am not able to contribute much to help them. Other parts of it may be used for general expenses and medication. For those wondering, "why not stay at your parent's home?" - Well, we can thank Mr. Hurricane Harvey for that. The house is in disarray as the fixing of the house is slow. It's habitable, but definitely not a sterile enough environment for a cancer patient with a lowered immune system to stay in.

I want to make it clear that I am not starving or am I in danger of being homeless/evicted/thrown out on the streets. For now, we have found a good hospital that has helped us with this situation and I've been fortunate to receive such great care from so many great doctors. So I don't want to deceive you for your hard-earned money - this is just if you feel compelled to help out and donate money. The funding "goal" is just a number I picked on the spot, honestly. There isn't a monetary goal for this gofundme. This is just a medium for receiving help (which friends of mine will find humorous because they know I'm not the best at asking for help...).

Your donations, prayers, vibes, and best wishes are greatly appreciated. SO appreciated. This came out of nowhere and has rocked our world but you, friends and family, have been amazing the entire way.

Thank you so much.

 - David.
