This is Barney. He is a 1 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He was recently diagnosed with a shunt in his liver after spending 3 days at the hospital. This shunt (extra vein) is causing all the toxins in his blood to not be filtered by the liver and making him very sick.
Because of the location of the shunt in his liver, he will require a special procedure via Interventional Radiology to fix it. The cost of this procedure will be about $5000. Once he has the procedure, he will be able to live a long and happy life!
Barney is currently at home on lots of meds around the clock and a special diet to help get him strong enough for the upcoming surgery.
