Fighting for Beth
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Beth Priestley. I am raising money for medical expenses that have incurred due to a diagnosis of MDS or Myelodisplastic Syndrome. I do not have the ability to make my own blood. I need blood transfusions weekly to survive.
I was diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago when I was sent to the emergency room after a routine blood test. It was found that I didn't have enough blood in my body. I was in danger of having a massive stroke.
Because of this disease and my need for tansfusions I have had other chronic health issues such as low white and red blood cell counts, dangerously high iron and platelet disfunction.
Some of my symptoms that I live with daily are extreme fatigue, headaches, nausea, and an inability to concentrate. I have treated with chemotherapy and according to the doctors the only way I can be cured is with a bone marrow transplant. There is a 30% to 40% survival rate. I have known of 3 others who have had MDS. They have all died after having a bone marrow transplant.
I have looked into other Holistic options for treating my disease and none are covered by insurance.
I have had to quit work to treat my condition.
Any money given will be used toward treating MDS.
Without treatment for this disease my doctors give me a year to live. I am happily married with 2 boys. I want to see them grow up and experience life. My boys are the biggest joy in my life. They have been given to me by God and I intend to see them grow and mature. I firmly believe my time is not up yet.
With a lot of prayers and support I believe I will live to see my boys next bithdays and beyond.
I am looking at seeking alternative treatment in Mexico with the hopes of going in May. I am hoping to raise the money necessary to go to Mexico in the next 45-60 days.
Thank you sincerely for your thoughts prayers and donations.
Blessings,
Beth
