Wow, where do I start? This is our sweet Izzy. Many of you that follow Wet Noses and Wagging Tails will recognize her little face. I took her into my rescue 8 months ago. She was a stray that wondered up to a home in the frigid cold last winter. The family did all they could to find her person but no luck, she had been dumped. They asked for my help and I was happy to take her in. Sadly, it's been one thing after another. We've done a few over night meet/greets trying to find that special home. Each time she comes back with hair loss and UTI's caused by stress. A few weeks ago I happened to notice her limping. Not 100% sure how this happened. She loves to run and play with the other dogs. She must have just landed on her leg the wrong way. I took her for an x-ray which reveled a torn cruciate ligament, cranial patella luxation (torn ACL). It requires surgery by a specialist. My regular vet, Dr. Whetstone made a call for me and got us in to see one of the best in this field and he's willing to work with my rescue. He said it would cost between 1,800 to 2,200 depending on what they find. They fear that the opposite side of the knee is also damaged.The surgery will take place a few hours from here in Decatur Alabama, then Dr, Whetstone will handle her post-op. She will then, most likely require physical therapy.
I've never had to ask for help with such a large amount. It's very uncomfortable, but necessary. I don't want to let her down. I will do everything I can to make this happen for Izzaboo, she is such an amazing pup! She's just 16 months old, her whole life in front of her. Please, help us if you can. No amount is to small.
