Things you only thought you knew about RED

It’s about time!

Years of frivolous hype, mis-representation, deception and false-advertising, abusing unaware customers’ trust, unfair competition and unlawful prevention of legal competition, years of constant threats of lawsuits against every valid voice, and years of abuse of the court system by RED Digital Cinema are about to be over.

Support me to reveal RED’s truth for the benefit of the entire world of cinematography.

I now need your support. I need to get hold of some of Red’s cameras and accessories for some in-depth inspections. Including RED EPIC-X (or EPIC-M) and RED ONE (especially the earliest editions), and some of their older accessories such as RED DRIVE, RED CF Cards and their readers, cables and connections, bits and pieces.
I also need to inspect some of their newer accessories. such as the RED Touch that is being marketed as Ultra Bright, etc.


How to support:

A) If you happen to have any of these (or other stuff I didn’t list above and not reviewed yet), please consider either donating or loaning them to me. Even if they are broken I can probably still use them for some inspections. In case of loaner gears, although I’d do my best to take a very good care of them, I cannot guarantee that the inspections are 100 percent safe. That’s why I prefer donation, even if they are broken already.

B) Otherwise, please consider sponsoring me to raise the fund needed to purchase, preferably from the used market.
Apart from the videos I make, I will try to share the findings on a weblog.

Let’s start a new time where real innovation in a competing market matters. Let’s end Red’s false monopoly that is restraining the real progress. Let’s end the reign of fear of RED’s lawsuits it throws left and right. Let’s take the puny God off its high horse.


Why it is important to inspect Epic X:

Epic-X is important because that's what Red presented to US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for approval. I studied the images of the electronics pulled from FCC website (low res thou - example here: https://www.extremetech.com/electronics/113331-red-epic-x-5k-camera-tear-down/5)I am highly suspicious that the camera device presented to FCC was a specially prepared unit probably intending to deceive FCC and the public. I'd say it's highly likely that the commercial units are different to those presented to FCC. With your support, I will be able to inspect and hopefully prove that.


Why it is important to inspect RED ONE, RED CF CARD and REDDRIVE:

Inspecting RED ONE can lead to reveal RED's patent flaws. Also, it will help me to figure out a way to bring the camera back to life for many owners by possibly offering ways to enable use of modern media such as available memory cards and SSDs.
