Join Jim's Fight Against ALS

By all accounts, Jim Racobs was a healthy 48 year old. A husband and father of four beautiful girls, he enjoys watching his daughter's soccer games, raising his backyard chickens, Nascar (go #24), and chasing his twin 4 year olds around. A General Carpenter by trade, remodeling client's homes into something beautiful, is something he has enjoyed doing for over the last 20 years.
As we all know, life can be very unpredictable, and nothing could have prepared him or his family for the devastating news to come.
On December 10, 2012, Jim was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. ALS is a progressive disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement. Most ALS patients live 3-5 years from time of diagnosis.
Realizing there is no cure for ALS, and Western Medicine offers little hope for ALS patients, Jim has chosen the path of naturopathy to help slow his progression. While no Naturopath doctor has suggested they have a cure, they have offered hope. Through weekly visits to his Functional Neurologist, a healthy diet, supplements, and a lot of prayer, he is hoping a healthy mind, body and soul will slow the progression of his disease.
Jim has decided Stem Cell treatment is the next step towards his battle with this devastating disease. A lot of research has been done on stem cell treatment for ALS patients, with amazing results. Unfortunately, like all naturopath treatments, stem cell is not covered by insurance, and comes with a hefty price tag, which is why we have started this fund.
