Jimmy and his twin brother Danny were born on December 19th, 1953 in St. Anthony, Newfoundland.
After living in many places from Newfoundland to British Columbia, Jimmy settled in Moncton, New Brunswick, where he worked for A1 Lumpers at both its New Brunswick and Newfoundland locations for approximately 20 years, up to his retirement.
In 2004, Jimmie married Cheryl (Adshade) Oulton and became a permanent resident in River Philip, Nova Scotia.
Jimmie loves to garden, cook, and hang out with his friends. He can normally be found talking and laughing with friends, most likely with a cold Keith’s in his hand.
In April 2020 Jimmie was diagnosed with Stage 2 Esophageal Cancer, located at the junction of the esophagus and stomach. Initially a Stent was placed to facilitate eating, but it moved into the top of his stomach causing horrible pain, and necessitating removal of the Stent.
Jimmie had 10 rounds of radiation (chemotherapy not being an option in his case).
On Monday Sept 21st Jimmie was further diagnosed with Stage 4, the cancer having spread to his liver and bones. One further radiation treatment was done on his hip in an attempt to alleviate the pain in that area. Jimmie’s pain is constant even with painkillers.
The next meeting with the Oncologist is October 13th, when treatment options will be discussed.
